We tested the cars and one works and one does not, but we are having an individual look at it to see if it is a minor fix. The Ideal Motorific Alcan Highway Torture Track, released in 1965, was a battery-powered vehicle set that broke from traditional slot-car conventions.

Rather than drawing power from electrified tracks, the vehicles used independent battery-powered motors, allowing them to navigate elaborate obstacle courses that included jumps, hazards, and crash tests. Independent Power: The cars ran on their own pair of AA batteries, which were housed in a single interchangeable chassis. You could snap different car bodies (such as sports cars or antiques) onto the same motorized chassis. No Wires: Because the vehicles carried their own power, the setup was "wire-free", making it highly modular.

The "Torture" Elements: The snap-together plastic track featured challenging elements inspired by the harsh Alcan Highway. This included a jump, a crash barrier test, a shock test, and a power/climbing test. Scales and Layout: The set was roughly 1/32 scale and allowed builders to create large, looping setups that pushed the independent cars' power and traction to their limits.
