Revell 2-4 Lane Slot Car Track
If you always wanted a 4 lane track- here it is, easily converted to a longer lap length 2 lane. To go from 2 to 4 lane. You will remove 4 of the 14" radius curves, when you add the 21"track.
You must remove the Hi-Bank with its transition track and replace it with 6 of the 21 radius curves. Then add straight track, since you will have more room. You must also add another pair (included) of cross- cross track and the second terminal tracks (I usually have it attached as part of the two lane set-up, already in place). Plug one terminal track in at a time and make sure the cars are going in the right direction. You can reverse the way the wiring is plugged into the underside of the terminal tracks, but usually just changing out one terminal track for the other works.
OR- SWAP POSITION OF THE WIRES ATTACHED TO THE POWER PACK. Save the pictures in the description for reference.
Patience and care is helpful when assembling or changing. I have cleaned all the track, so conductivity is good. I have assembled and disassembled numerous times.
This track is over 60 years old, so there are numerous chips, mostly at the interlocking ends, which does not effect the running. Sometimes just switching up a track for another, or flipping it around solves problems, or putting a tiny dimple in the receiving rail. Only one pack is needed to run the 2 lane setup.
Do not plug in 2 power packs for a 2 lane setup. Two matching power packs and 4 controllers are included. I recommend the Carrera 1/43 Mustangs, as they are a blast, easy to run and fast. For 1/32 scale I like the GT 40s out there, though the old original Revell pony cars are fun, as are the old Eldons & Strombeckers. All the modern analog cars are pretty good as well.This is set up on a 4x13' table. This is the best use of space on a 4' wide surface, modeled after Daytona.
It could be shortened by 3 feet, with the removal of some straights, 13 I believe. I have used some Revell shoulders coming off the bank.
Some of these and some of the Revell shoulders have been angle cut for a custom fit. After switching over to the 4 lane track, I have broken open another box of 21 radius Atlas shoulders and added four of them to complete a continuous outside shoulder, this took the addition of 4 more straight shoulders as well.
If you want shoulders, I would recommend Atlas shoulders, that are far better than Revells, though they are pricy and hard to find. Send any questions you have now, or when setting up.I checked each track power with a little tester. I would advise picking something like this up, this one is not included. At this price, with cars included and the Hi-Bank, it is a bargain. I have marked the special custom cut shoulders with temporary labels just to make creating these setups easier.
Collecting all these components is costly and time consuming.
